Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1971, Guilherme Monteiro has played with Toninho Horta and
Tavinho Moura before leaving Brazil in 1992. In the US, he studied at the Berklee School of Music and was one
of eight students accepted at the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz in 1999. While living in New York since 2000, he
has played and/or recorded with: Slide Hampton, Harry Allen, Grady Tate, Ron Carter, Claudio Roditi, Kenny Werner, Randy
Brecker, Lee Konitz, Joćo Bosco, Johnny Alf, Nilson Matta, Duduka Da Fonseca, Jerry Bergonzy, Chiara Civello, Eliane Elias, Marc Johnson, Jamie Hadad, Leo Gandelman and John Lockwood among
others.
